The Department of Banking and Finance is the youngest of all the departments in Faculty of Management Sciences of the University. Introduced about 14 years ago in 2005, the department commenced operations to particularly cater for the needs of the banking industry and the financial sector of the economy in particular, as well as contribute its quota in nation building through the scholarly activities of provision of the requisite academic and professional training to the future manpower that would be engaged in moving the Nigeria’s economy to greater heights and improved living standards to the generality of it’s populace.

The important role of the financial sector as the catalyst of growth and the heartbeat of the economy further makes the existence of the department most necessary especially with its position as the only department of banking and finance in the whole of the FCT which incidentally is the seat of power and the administrative center of the Nigeria’s government.

Finally, to enhance our grandaunts and ensure their academic excellence and professional capabilities the department is already in contact with professional bodies such as the CIBN and the Chartered Stock Brokers Institute.
